Thanks to our customers, Dike & Son has been able to give cash boosts to dozens of local groups and charities through the Nisa Making A Difference charity fund.
When shoppers choose specially marked products in-store, it triggers a payment from the supplier. It might only be pennies but it soon adds up – and since the scheme launched in 2008 we've been able to donate over £35,000!
To celebrate this little milestone, members of the team at Dike's got together to make a video, which you can view on our YouTube Channel here: Making A Difference Locally in the Blackmore Vale
Stalbridge Cricket Club and Abbas and Templecombe CE Primary School are the latest to benefit, with a £5K windfall each from the fund.
Colin Moore, Chair of Stalbridge CC said: "Like many other community groups, 2020 has been a difficult year for Stalbridge CC, with the club losing many of its regular income streams from member subscriptions, match fees and fundraising events, so this very generous support from Making A Difference Locally will really secure the immediate future for the club and will help us improve our provision and facilities for the cricketers from all ages that participate. The club provides cricket for girls, boys, men and women from age five upwards, and we all look forward to returning to cricket in 2021, assisted by this very gratefully received support. Many thanks to MADL, on behalf of all the members of Stalbridge CC!"
The MADL Trustees said they were delighted to be able to help with a donation to such a deserving cause. The Trustees also chose Templecoombe School because the nomination made clear what the money would buy – the new shelter and benches, which will have a long term benefit for the children. They also recognised that the school had previously raised funds for this project, but due to Covid the money had to be diverted to buy iPads to enable all children to continue their education at home.
If you would like to nominate a local good cause, sports club, school, community group or charity to receive help from the MADL charity fund for a particular project you are currently trying to raise money for, please write to adam@dikeandson.co.uk with details.
